Hmmm...lama tak jenguk blog...kalau rumah 3 bulan tak dihuni sure dah berhabuk...sawang jangan cakap la banyaknye...mengalahkan web Spiderman...Lots of things happen after the last entry.

Early December 2009, our friends (3 families) datang cuti-cuti Indonesia for a week plus. Rata la berjalan - Bandung, Puncak dan Jakarta. Penat jangan cerita tapi seronok sangat.

Lepas tu kami pulak pulang ke Malaysia. We all balik dulu and hubby pulang kemudian memandangkan cuti dia cuma tinggal 5 hari. Lepas tu kami pulang ke Jakarta bersama-sama on 4 Jan 2010. Balik ke Kota Damansara, balik Banting, pergi Rengit, balik kampung dan ke Kota Damansara lagi.

Lepas dah setahun kat sini, sangatlah terasanya duit yang dibelanjakan kat untuk barang dapur (basah dan kering) kat sini lebih kurang 2 - 3 kali ganda belanjanya dari di Malaysia. Selalu kalau di Malaysia belanja untuk barang dapur lebih kurang RM350 sebulan. Kat sini belanjanya Rp3,000,000 (Rp3 juta) = RM1,140.00. Antara perbezaan ketara adalah harga barang asas:

Memang tension especially bila nak buat kek, cookies dan yang sewaktu dengannya. The soft brown sugar yang berapa hengget je kat M'sia, kat sini berharga Rp35,000.

On the other hand, sayur-sayuran agak murah. Tapi memandangkan penghuni rumah ini cuma 2 orang je yang makan sayur, tak de maknanya jugak. Kena jugak beli ikan (with limited choices - cuma ada tenggiri batang , kembung, bawal, kerapu, siakap, senangin). Yang tak pernah jumpa or sesekali jumpa tapi dah tak fresh are cencaru, parang (pernah sekali jumpa), jenahak, tenggiri papan. Bila ke pasar memang asyik ikan tu je...varieties kureng...so kena beli ayam dan daging je la..

Tapi alhamdulillah masih boleh makan yang sedap unlike ramai lagi rakyat negara ni yang duduk di pinggir kawasan perumahan kami ni yang kais pagi makan pagi, kais petang makan petang, yang anak-anak main kat longkang yang berair hitam. Memang la kesian. Tapi kalaulah ada majikan hubby tau pasal ni tolonglah naikkan living allowance yang ciput tu. Bila dah ujung bulan tu tersedak la juga dalam keadaan ekonomi yang macam ni...

Happy 16th Anniversary

21 November datang lagi. Dan ini merupakan hari ulangtahun perkahwinan kami yang ke 16. Alhamdulillah 16 tahun telah berjaya diharungi dengan bermacam rencah dan asam garam..ada pahit, manis, macam dan bermacam-macam rasa lagi.

And we are blessed with 4 lovely children. This time we celebrate it here.

Ke Rumah Sakit.....

Malam tadi Adlina mintak tolong Ayah korekkan telinga dia. Lepas korek telinga kanan, korek telinga kiri..Masa korek telinga kiri, Ayah nampak kertas tisu kat dalam tu. Pelik bin ajaib camana kertas tisu boleh ada dalam telinga.

Ayah: "Macam mana kertas tisu ni boleh ada dalam telinga Ina?"
Adlina: "Masa dalam kereta pagi tadi masa nak pegi sekolah Ina masukkan tisu dalam telinga sebab Akak Ika dengan Akak Afa bising"
Ayah: (pening) nak marah pun ada nak tergelak pun ada

Malam tadi terus check kat internet kat mana ada ENT specialist yang dekat dengan rumah. Dalam masa yang sama mintak tolong kawan-kawan kat sini via Facebook.

So pagi tadi bawak Adlina ke Rumah Sakit Pondok Indah sebab ada sorang ENT specialist on duty sebelah pagi. Alhamdulillah cuma ada seorang pesakit dan Adlina pesakit yang kedua. Sekejap je doktor tu ambik tisu tu guna tweezer-like thing untuk tarik tisu tu keluar. BUT the cost is a hefty Rp396,000 (RM110.00). Specialist la katakan...The doctor's fee yang mahal rasanya.

Anyway, yang penting selamat dan belum ada infection sebab tisu tu masih kering dan belum masuk air...Alhamdulillah...doktor pun dah warned dia so that jangan masukkan apa-apa dalam telinga...hopefully Adlina tak buat lagi....Hmmm macam-macam.

RA/RD Sale Lagi

Today ku telah mengikut kawan-kawan wanita kat sini ke Sale Royal Albert (pinggan mangkuk) di Bimasena Club, Hotel Darmawangsa. I went with Irma who came with her Australian mother-in-law. Ajak diorang makan roti canai and teh tarik kat rumah then off we went to Bimasena Club..We reached there at 10.15 am in which the pintu bukak at 10.00 am. Itu pun dah ramai ladies kat dalam hall tu. Seperti biasa cik kiah akan bertemu cik kiah yang lain...Cik-cik kiah yang dah lama kat sini tempat we all mengcompare harga.

Irma and I were just starting to belajar collect Everyday Rose Buds collection...beginner le katakan. But the price is not THAT cheap. The item pulak banyak yang tak ada. Yang banyak is the OCR collection (Royal Albert trademark). I don't really like it. So only grabbed the coffee pot, 5 ketul dinner plate, sugar pot, sauce boat (Everyday Rose Buds) and a salad bowl of Flowers of the Month. Jadi la buat tambah the collection. Nanti boleh cari kat tempat lain.

After paying the bill, we had our lunch at Darmawangsa Square. Lepas tu balik rumah la sebab hari nak hujan.

Lamanya tak update blog….macam bz sangat kan….

1. Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Kami balik ke Malaysia pada 16 September 2009 naik MAS yang tiketnya dibeli pada hujung bulan Mei. Beli awal sebab nak dapat harga yang murah. OK gak sebab naik Airbus..quite spacious. Sampai KLIA, Adik fetched us with Amin. Bawak dua kereta sebab luggage banyak. On the way ke rumah Adik, singgah di Putrajaya belik roti john..then kat Bandar Kinrara pulak ke Pasar Ramadhan beli segala macam makanan yand dah lama tak makan.

Coincidently hari tu jugaklah Faizah masuk labour room..so our car which is under the care of Faizah n Pian digunakan untuk ke hospital. Nasib baik memang plan nak berbuka puasa at Adik’s house. So we all lepak dulu kat BK. Malam after berbuka, hubby and Amin ke Serdang ambik kereta. Kami sampai di Banting pukul 11.00 malam. Esoknya baru Faizah delivered her baby boy, Syakir…

Raya was celebrated first @ hubby’s hometown. So on the first raya was the normal route of raya i.e. ke Kampung Kundang and Batu Laut…my parents-in-law’s kampung. Visiting his uncles, aunties and other relatives.

3^rd raya we went back to Bahau, my hometown. Reached kampung in the afternoon. Glad to be in MY kampung again after 9 months plus…rindu seeing the kampung house. Tak lama lepas tu Adik pun sampai from Pekan. Then Ita and family from her in-laws in Jerantut. By petang, the whole of Embong’s family arrived from their rounds to Rembau and Seremban. Meriahlah rumah dengan adik-beradik, anak-anak saudara dan cucu-cucu (mind you, ku sudah ada cucu saudara sebab my sisters dah ada cucu)..hu..hu..wan mudo laie… Malam tu apa lagi..sesi berborak la…memang riuh sebab ada lebih kurang 50 orang kat dalam rumah masa tu…

The next morning Embong and family balik ke Rengit and all the anak-anak yang dah kawin ke rumah mertua masing-masing pulak. All of us yang kat rumah (except yang tengah berpantang) memulakan round beraya ke Kuala Pilah, Juasseh dan ke Serting Ilir. The rest of the days were spent lepaking.

On Saturday we planned to go back to our home in Kota Damansara. So on the way home, we dropped by at R*ro’s house in Seremban…makan-makan, borak-borak we all ke Bangi pulak rumah An*. Another round of makan-makan and borak-borak…Too bad S*zli and L**da tak leh join sebab keletihan baru balik from their kampung.

2. @ Kota Damansara

We reached our home almost Maghrib. The house needs cleaning, vacuuming sebab dah almost 2 months tak de orang datang. So apa lagi, I took the ground floor with Arfah and hubby n Atikah incharged of the 1^st floor for the vacuuming. Penat giler…dah selesai mandi, off we went to the food stalls for our dinner.

The next morning, we went to a neighbour’s house whose daughter is Adlina’s best friend, Nana. She was diagnosed with bone cancer last May. We knew it while on the way to the food stall the night before. Sedih tengok keadaan dia, kurus, kulit dia jadi gelap and botak because of the chemotherapy. She was a chubby and fair girl. Yang paling sedih when the mother told me that masa she was diagnosed with cancer, “Bagi la tau Ina yang Nana sakit”. The mother said,”Macam mana mama nak bagi tau, mama tak de nombor telefon dia and Indonesia tu besar macam mana mama nak cari”. Unfortunately, the mother memang tak de our number. So we exchanged contact numbers and emails.

The rest of the days were spent on settling matters pertaining to our house with the lawyer, Madam A**ra in her office in KL…thank you Wa for your assistance. Then buatkan IC for anak dara yang dah berumur 12 tahun. We have to do it at JPN head office in Putrajaya sebab nak IC tu siap within 24 hours. Alhamdulillah everything went smoothly and dapat collect the IC the following day.

3. Balik ke Jakarta

On Thursday, 1^st October we were back in Banting. Cari lagi balance barang-barang kering yang nak bawak balik. Start packing things in boxes. Saturday afternoon, checked in at KLIA. Adik, Acek and families were there as well as Asrul, Pian, Fidah and Mak. Back to normal life……

Today, 9 September 2009 is Adlina’s 7th birthday. She has been pestering us to celebrate her birthday like her other friends. Adoi! Mak & Ayah tak cukup modal la nak celebrate like your other friends. Dah macam culture kat sini celebrate birthday kat entertainment centre such as Kidszone, Kidzania, Lollipop, Playground 72 etc. Holding a party kat tempat-tempat cam ni memerlukan modal JUTAAN Rupiah… Nasib baik sekarang bulan puasa, so we have a strong reason not to hold such party.

Adlina is our third child. I actually had miscarriage before having her. At that time I was 3-month pregnant. Atikah and Arfah was so happy because both of them dah 7 and 4 years respectively. They were eagerly waiting for the baby. Trip to the gynae dah jadi family event and all of us will go. So on that particular night we went to Dr D***ila clinic at Subang Jaya for my monthly check-up. When she was doing the scanning, I sensed something was wrong as she took longer time than usual to display to me the screen. Then she told me that there was no heartbeat. I was a bit surprised sebab tak pernah such thing happen to me and I didn’t suspect anything wrong with my pregnancy…no blood stain…no fall etc. She suspected that the foetus has already ‘dead’ for about a month and she was surprised that I did not feel anything. By right the dead foetus dah toxicate my blood. So she filled up and faxed the admission form to SJMC. The D & C was scheduled the next morning. By then I was already banjir with airmata coz really tak sangka it turned out to be the sad ending. The next morning I undergo the D & C. That was in end March 2001.

Alhamdulillah in January 2002, I was confirmed pregnant again. At that time I was still working with C**com in Jalan Ampang. Had a smooth pregnancy eventhough kena drive and sometimes took LRT to work. In April 2002 I took the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) which was offered to all staff and mine was among the approved ones. Before going separate ways, our department sempat lagi bersukaria di Genting Highlands during Indian Filmfare 2002. Watching the premiere of film apa-tak-ingat-dah-the-title which the lead actor was Amitabh Bachchan. Nasib baik dapat room free of charge. Dapat la bawak family.

Kalau ikut calculation, I was supposed to deliver on 3rd week of September. Since it was going to be another planned cesaerian, we chose the date 9 September as it is an easy date to remember. So there it goes. On that particular day, the 3.09 kg baby was born and we named her Noor ‘Adlina Hayani. As a baby Adlina tak banyak problem. Jarang sakit. The first time she had a fever when she was a year old. Managed to exclusively breastfed her till she was a year old. Then I got a new job in KL. She was sent to the nursery along with her 2 elder sisters. There goes the normal routine…the early morning trip to school, nursery, office, nursery, home.

She is the talkative type and sometimes jadi macam baby eventhough dah 7 tahun. VERY friendly…easily makes new friend even at public places and even with different language spoken…macam ayam dengan itik still boleh main. Tersangatlah mischieviousnya. Selalu hilang kat supermarket as she will be menonong sorang-sorang ke depan excitedly…now dah kurang la…we have to takut-takutkan dia…..kalau tidak memang ikut kepala dia mana dia nak pergi.

This year’s birthday is a special one sebab nombor dia cantik…..09.09.’09….tambahan pulak Adlina was born at exactly 9.00 am…..

So this morning Hariz and I went to her school and throw a simple party for her with her classmates. Just blow the candle and potong cake and makan with them as most of them are non-Muslims. Adlina pun tak nak puasa hari ni sebab nak makan kek dengan kawan-kawan…layan jelah….so here are some of the photos….

IT'S EARTHQUAKE

On Wednesday, as usual I went to Ain*n’s house at Pondok Indah for the weekly Pengajian session. It finished at 12.30 pm. On the way home, make a pit stop at Hero Supermarket Terogong to buy banana leaves and some groceries. Planned to make ‘tepung pelita’ for Iftar. Upon reaching home, settled things up and took out the frozen kue teow and curry puffs. Nai came to pick the ‘air kapur’ for her dried cuttlefish. Then I went to the kitchen to make the little basket from banana leaves for the ‘tepung pelita’. Susah jugak nak buat…after some trials and errors, jadi la bakul tu…

While leka melipat the bakul, suddenly I felt dizzy and the surrounding macam bergoyang…ingatkan pitam…I hold the kitchen table top tightly…takut jatuh…adalah dalam 30 saat dalam keadaan tu…It was about 2.55 pm. Then I asked my helper whether they felt the same…I do not know what actually happened. They said they felt the same thing. Then I saw the water in the swimming pool dah macam ombak kat laut…siap boleh terkeluar air tu dari pool cause of the kocakan. Then I know IT IS earthquake…

I called hubby’s mobile phone. First call….unanswered…dah suspen… Fortunately, 5 minutes after that he called…Dia kata memang earthquake…semua yang ada kat office kena turun to the ground level via emergency staircase. I asked him to come back…mana la tau kang apa-apa jadi. But cannot come back sebab semua barang kat atas…in the office…and jalan semua macet total (jammed…stagnant)

When I watched in the TV, the earthquake is quite bad…7.3 Skala Richter…nasib baik tak jadi tsunami…Pusat gempa is 124 km off the coast Tasik Malaya. Tasik Malaya is about 2 and a half hours drive from Jakarta. Suspen… Anak-anak kat sekolah pun rasa and they were evacuated to the school’s field and playground.

In today’s news, the death toll dah 59 orang… yang rumah rosak and kena pindahkan dah about 5,000 plus. In Cianjur, after effect of the earthquake is the landslide…banyak rumah yang tertimbus…warga kampung tu kena pindah. The quake is felt sampai ke Bali. Read more kat sini:

Alhamdulillah we are ok…as well as other Malaysians kat sini….belum dengar any casualties of any Malaysians. Hopefully tak de jadi apa-apa. Na’uzubillah…Dugaan Allah di bulan Ramadhan yang penuh berkah.

August Birthday

15 years ago, at this hour I was just got my new title ‘Mak’. My first child was born at 2.34 am on 26 August 1994. At this hour also I was still sleeping soundly after a few hours in labour.

I got married in November 1993 and about one month after that I was confirmed pregnant. I can still remember that on that particular day, I went to the company’s panel clinic to ask the doctor on how to not to get pregnant so soon. The lady doctor- on- duty advice me on the how to. But she also asked me to do the urine test at the same time. So that she can plan something for me. Fortunately, when the urine test result was out, it was positive and I was 4 weeks pregnant. I was quite surprised because I didn’t expect to get pregnant so soon. But as a Muslim I take it as rezeki. It was an easy pregnancy. No morning sickness, no nausea, no vomiting and I was very healthy. But my appetite was really good. I had 2 roti canai for breakfast everyday. Memang berselera.

At that time we were residing in USJ Subang in a 2-room flat. My sister, Adik was also staying with me as she was completing her Degree in I*M. My husband was working with a plantation company and always outstation and I was working in a haulier company in Jalan Klang Lama. When hubby was not around I will take bus to work. That was our life…as we were just gotten married and we have to start everything from scratch. Buying our own gas cooker, cutleries, household items etc. Our salary were just enough to cover the expenses till the next salary…no savings. It was quite hard but we survived.

The regular check-ups were done at S*MC under the company’s expense. Sometimes we had to wait for about 2 hours plus when Dr S**i had patients in labour.
Buying items for the baby was a funny experience… At first I had no idea on how to plan for the purchase. I had to ask from friends and relatives. Takut nak beli… if terlebih or terkurang. The confusing part is there were various views from the older and younger generation. Fening… In the end we just bought a few pairs of the baju and seluar, booties and mittens… but Alhamdulillah we got a lot more as gifts from family and friends.

When I was 8-month pregnant I went for a job interview at C**com Academy. My senior at work asked me not to go as she told me that that company won’t take me as I was pregnant. They wouldn’t want to wait till I delivered. But I just go and tried my luck. At that time that particular Academy was just set up and they need an HR people. After about one hour interview, they accepted me but I told them I can only join after my confinement period is over. That was the child’s rezeki…I got a new job waiting for me and a better offer.

On 25 August I went for my regular check-ups with hubby. That was on Thursday. So many people queuing. Kena tunggu for about 2 hours. So we went downstairs for drinks. When the doctor checked there were some blood stains. She asked me to get myself admitted in the afternoon. So we went home, prepare things to bring to the hospital. Informed my sister at home and in kampung. Hubby called my parents-in-law. At that time we do not have the handphones like today, so we only relied on house phone.

At about 2.30 pm we went to the hospital. Admitted to the ward. At about 4.30 pm, I can feel the mild contraction. I told the nurse and she did the necessary and wheeled me to the labour room. The nurse called the doctor i.e. Dr H*ris as Dr S**i was on vacation. By 9.30 pm I could feel the contraction was like every 15 minutes and dah dilated about 7 cm. At 11.00 pm, I was fully dilated and ready to push…push….push…tak boleh keluar…. Dr H*ris came and asked me to push….”Come on push….I can see the head”. Push lagi tapi tak boleh keluar gak. So Dr H*aris used the vacuumed. After trying to vacuum for 7 times, nothing came out. So he decided to perfrom emergency cesaerian….Duh….tension…Signed the form and off we go to the OT… I was on full GA and all I can remember, I was wheeled to the ward….haven’t seen the baby. When I was half awake, I asked hubby whether the baby is OK….my first question was cukup sifat or not….Alhamdulillah…semua OK. Her weight was 3.52 kg and 51 cm long.

We named the baby Noor ‘Atikah Hanani….. When she was a baby she was very easy to care. Very chubby, very fair, berketu-ketul. Easy-going and tak takut orang… Well-loved by everybody in the family.

Now as a teenage, we hope her will do her best as a student, as a servant of Allah, as a child and a Malaysian. Semoga menjadi anak yang solehah dunia dan akhirat. Refrain yourself from mingling with people with bad influence, focus on your study first…. Other things come later.

What We Did Last Weekend?

Semalam (17 Ogos 2009) adalah Hari UlangTahun Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia (HUT RI) yang ke 64. Satu negara bercuti selama 3 hari. Banyak acara sambutan kemerdekaan diadakan sama ada di peringkat kampung, daerah, negeri dan kebangsaan.

Hari Sabtu kami tak ke mana cuma duduk di rumah…bersantai. Anak-anak berendam di kolam renang sebab hari teramatlah panas. Dah lebih sebulan hujan tak turun. Malamnya kami jalan ke Jakarta Pusat. Ronda-ronda sambil melihat macam mana persediaan sambutan hari merdeka di sini. Kami ke Jalan MH Tamrin dan terus melintas berdekatan Monas dan Istana Presiden. Bendera, pentas dan hiasan lainnya ada yang dah siap dipasang dan ada masih dalam persediaan. Kami singgah di Sarinah dan makan malam di ‘food court’ di situ. Selesai makan ronda-ronda di Sarinah Departmental Store. Banyak barang ‘on sale’ sebab sekarang tengah ‘the Great Jakarta Sale’. Tak beli apa-apa cuma ‘window shopping’.

Hari Ahad ke pasar beli ikan, daging dan sayur-sayuran. Pembantu rumah mintak libur jadi diliburkanlah. Lepas Zohor kami ke Senayan City dan makan tengahari di Pepper Lunch. Makanan yang dihidang dalam ‘hot plate’ seperti di ‘Stone Grill’. Dah makan ronda-ronda lagi. Anak-anak ke Time Zone main ‘video games’ dan segala macam mainan lainnya. Dah penat ronda-ronda kami ke Kawasan Kota Tua Jakarta.

Di Kota Tua Jakarta lagi...

Kawasan ini adalah merupakan kawasan bangunan lama semasa zaman pemerintahan Belanda. Banyak bangunan yang telah dipulihara. Antara tinggalan Belanda adalah pejabat pos yang masih terdapat kotak surat lama, Pejabat Gabenor, gereja dan lain-lainnya. Tempat ini telah dijadikan seperti dataran. Di tengahnya ruang kosong di mana pengunjung boleh berekreasi. Ada tempat untuk menyewa basikal trend lama sama ada untuk bergambar atau untuk ditunggang. Memandangkan esoknya adalah hari kemerdekaan RI, pengunjung agak ramai…ada orang jual ubat, bersiar-bersiar, makan-makan….

Semalam rancangannya nak ke Tanah Abang mencari tudung….kami pergi naik teksi sebab takut jalan sesak kerana ada acara sambutan kemerdekaan dan banyak jalan yang ditutup. Masuk aje ke kawasan Jakarta Pusat, jalan tersangatla lengang….jadi lega sikit mesti boleh sampai ke Tanah Abang sekejap aje…. Sampai je ke sana, tengok-tengok satu bangunan tu ditutup. Hari libur…semua peniaga di situ cuti. Penat je pegi…jadi kami pun ke ITC Kuningan….Sampai je di ITC pun rupanya ditutup… Nasib baik ada Carrefour di situ. Jadi bolehlah beli hadiah untuk majlis harijadi kawan Adlina…dah beli barang kami pun balik. So tak dapatlah nak shopping.....lain kali la...

The above should be read as UPDATES…lama sekali nggak update blog ni..been quite busy ngan entah apa-apa…malas nak on computer…in point form la ye:

1. CUTI SEKOLAH

Cuti sekolah anak-anak were from 20 June till 21 July 2009. That was the end of their Term 2. We did not plan to go tempat yang jauh-jauh sebab cuti dah save untuk balik ke Malaysia for Raya. Start cuti sekolah was 20 June and it was Arfah’s birthday…so buat kek and celebrated her birthday at home..potong kek je tak de ambus-ambus lilin. 1st weekend tu we went to Taman Wisata Mekarsari at Jalan Cileungsi – Bogor. It was about 45 minutes drive from Jakarta. Tempat ni adalah taman pertanian yang dipenuhi dengan pokok buah-buahan…Macam-macam ada. Antara buah-buahan yang tak pernah kami jumpa ialah buah kecapi, jari Buddha, sawo durian(kita sebut ciku), . We took the in-house tour package which costs us Rp50,000 per person. Semua yang ambik tour package akan naik tram-like vehicle. The tour took us to kebun buah-buahan ni…Mula-mula kami melawat kebun honey dew. Ada yang warna hijau and kuning. Ada yang bulat, ada yang 4 segi. Then ke kebun buah salak..kat sini kami melawat ke kebunnya and dapat satu pek buah salah setiap orang.

Lepas tu kami ke kebun belimbing…kebun belimbing ni agak luas. Cuaca agak panas so taklah masuk ke kebun tu. Lepak je lah kat tempat-tempat duduk yang disediakan. Kat sini pun dapat buah belimbing…Tour ni mengambil masa lebih kurang 1 jam. Dah habis melawat kebun-kebun tu kami di bawa ke tepi tasik yang ada gerai makanan, mainan outdoor i.e. flying fox, play ground dan lain-lain. Then kami pun beratur untuk naik tram balik to the station yang mula-mula tadi. Then Hariz & Adlina pun nak main mainan yang ada kat situ…Layan jelah.

2. WEEKEND GETAWAY

Pilihanraya (Pemilu 2009) was held on 8 July 2009. Since it was a public holiday we took the opportunity to spend the day at Bumbu Desa, Jalanraya Sukabumi – Bogor. About 1 hour hour drive from Jakarta. We reached the place around 11.00 am. There were 7 families altogether. Sampai terus lunch then aktiviti memancing. The kids were excited sebab dapat experience memancing. Tapi nasib tak berapa baik hari tu tak ramai yang dapat ikan. We also celebrated birthday party for 5-year old Irfan (Azian’s son). After cake cutting, ada games for the kids. We stayed there until Maghrib. Balik terus mandi and masak instant noodle sebab tak la lapar sangat but need something to eat.

3. MAK & FIDAH'S VISIT

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law came to visit us on 11 July...They came her on Saturday. Touched down at Bandara Soekarno Hatta at about 11.00 am. Fetched them and head for lunch at Boplo Gado-gado at Jakarta Pusat. After makan we all balik ke rumah and lepak till petang. Petang ke ITC Fatmawati which is very near to our house. Ronda-ronda and beli barang sikit we all balik. After Maghrib we went to Rozee's house in Pondok Indah. Rozee is also from Banting and hubby's & Fidah's mengaji friend. Never met her in KL or Banting but met her here instead. I got to know when I attended one of the Pengajian sessions organised by Malaysian ladies here. Since then we are friends...The dinner was sate and yummy pasta goreng...makan-makan and borak-borak, we left her house at about 10.30 pm.

The next we brought Mak and Fidah for a shopping spree at Tanah Abang. Spent the whole day there and ITC Kuningan. Had dinner at Restoran Sederhana Nasi Padang @ Jalan Fatmawati. Reached home at 9.30 pm.

On Monday we went to Bandung as Fidah need to find some other things for the families. We went to Rumah Mode, Heritage factory outlets and Jalan Cibaduyut where hubby bought a pair of leather shoes at a very reasonable price. On the way back we stop by at Bekasi for dinner. Had Sundanese food in which the fried chicken is so sedap...

The next day we went to Tanah Abang as Fidah need to find some more things for the nephews and nieces...On Wednesday we headed for Bandara after lunch as their flight was at 2.50 pm. It was a short visit where they plan to come again just for sightseeing...

4. A FRIEND’S VISIT

My friend for 22 years Iza came with her family on 23 July. We were first know each other on our first day at II*M Matriculation Centre way back in 1987. Since then we were good friends eventhough she took up Law and me BBA. After graduated in 1992, we shared room in our rented house in Kg Baru with another 5 of our good friends (quorum). She married her campus sweetheart Z**i and settled down in Subang Jaya and working in U*M.

She came for a shopping spree…Tak taulah apa dia nak shopping lagi. She was also in Jakarta from 2005 – 2007 following her husband on job transfer. Manage to meet up with her when Yaya suggested that we spent that particular weekend at Bumbu Desa again. This time only 4 families were able to join the trip. Those were Iza, Yaya, Zizie and me. We left Jakarta around 11.00 am and only reached Bumbu Desa at about 1.00 pm. There were a bad traffic jammed from the about 6 kilometres before the slip road into Bumbu Desa…aduss tension, tension. Sampai je terus makan and fortunately Yaya has ordered the food while we stuck in the jam. Kalau tak sure kebuluran nak menunggu food sampai.

After makan, apa lagi aktiviti memancing la…We were lucky this time…banyak dapat ikan. In total we got 10 kgs of ikan emas. We divide the catch into 3 and brought them back. In between, the children enjoyed their flying fox acitivity. Hariz pun tak lepas peluang this time after watching Aqil (Zizie’s son) succeeded in his flying fox attempt. Naik sampai 2 kali…Dia suka betul. Adlina apa lagi….The emak-emak bersembang la….lama tak jumpa…
Iza flew back last Wednesday after spending 2 weeks here and has gone as far as Jogjakarta.

Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula

Kesian kitorang. Baru last Saturday dapat tengok cerita Upin dan Ipin, “Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula”. It was not in our plan nak gi tengok movie. Tengahari Sabtu tu kami anak-beranak saja jalan-jalan ke Grand Indonesia Shopping Town. Nak bawak anak-anak tengok the “Dancing Fountain”. Sampai kat situ dah pukul 11.30 pagi. Ronda-ronda, ambik-ambik gambar, pukul 11.50 pagi kami pun naik ke kawasan air pancut tu. The show tu ada setiap jam. Tepat jam 12.00 tengahari show pun start. Air pancut tu menari according to the song played along with it. It was fun for the children and the adults as well. It was about 10 minutes show. Nasib baik masa tu belum ramai orang, so selesalah nak tengok dari dekat.

Then Adlina and Hariz nampak plak mainan kat situ. So layan la diorang main kat Fun World. Dah main, ronda-ronda lagi then baru we all pergi makan kat the Food Louvre…Food court kat situ. I had gado-gado…sedap tapi sangat pedas… Dah makan, lepak-lepak jap sambil makan aiskrim. Then gi solat kat tingkat 5.

After that we just go up further, just to explore apa yang ada kat situ. Then ternampak poster Upin & Ipin. It was already 3.00 pm masa tu. Then we found out that there’s Kids’ Film Festival’s going on. Most of the movies participated in the festival are shown kat Blitz Megaplex tu. And one of the movies is Upin & Ipin’s Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula. Since cerita memang ditunggu dek anak-anak so we all pun decide to watch the movie. After all the show was a 4.00 pm show. Tak lah lama nak kena tunggu. To kill the time, we all lepak-lepa kat situ.

Before we get into the theatre, the Upin & Ipin mascots were out to greet the fans. Dapatlah bergambar dengan ‘Upin & Ipin’. Hariz tak nak ambik gambar and nangis tengok ‘Upin & Ipin’. Bila tanya kenapa dia nangis, dia kata “Upin & Ipin dah besar, tak nak lah”.

After the show, we got to meet the producer and the animators yang involved in the making of the movie. Anak-anak were happy as they get to watch the movie as we did not plan to watch one when we went out yesterday. After all everybody returned home happily.

On the way back, we just tapaued KFC sebab tak la rasa lapar sangat.

Memory of Abah

My father whom I called ‘Abah’ passed away 22 years ago. So my siblings and I dah jadi yatim since then. At that time I had just get an offer to further my studies in I*UM. I was supposed to register myself to the university in a month’s time. He knew about the offer and was very happy as I was the first to enter university in my family. At that time he was 84 years old. He was no more able to drive the car and only managed to ride his motorcycle to go back and forth between our house in Kuala Sialang and Mak Tua’s in Kuala Jempol. The way he rode the bike pun was not that smooth… a little bit shaky at times. That could be due to his eyesight yang dah agak kabur. Kadang-kadang suspen jugak kalau membonceng dengan dia. He being himself memang tak boleh duduk diam. Ada je yang dia nak buat.

Abah from my perspective is such hard headed person…kalau putih kata dia putihlah… payah nak menang kalau argue dengan dia. Dia paling tak suka kalau orang tak tetap pendirian, cakap berbalik-balik i.e. kejap cakap A, kejap cakap B. Bila dia tak puashati, dia akan marah or bagitahu masa tu jugak. Dia tak simpan dalam hati. I think it is a typical orang dolu-dolu. Kita sebagai anak kena ikut cakap mak bapak tanpa banyak soal jawab. Agak warak, orang kampung hormat dia. Dia pandai cakap omputih and Arab. Kalau dia argue memang siap dengan dalil Al-Quran. Abah did not really expressed how he loves his children, grandchildren directly. But we know he loves us. In my opinion, typical people zaman tu memang tak reti tunjuk kasih sayang diorang…is it? That’s how I felt. Tak pernah la bergurau senda dengan dia. Cuma we really respect him. He always encouraged us to study hard. Bak kata Akak, Abah pernah tanya dia: “Kau nak kawin ko nak belajar laie?”. Kalau still nak belajar he’ll find the means to finance the education. Akak pernah cerita that Abah pernah jual tanah sebab nak hantar Embong sekolah ke Singapura. I do not really know cerita-cerita lain di zaman Embong, Akak, Alang and Acek. Adik and I were not around YET masa tu. We were the generation after them. That’s why tak banyak cerita yang kami tahu…Cuma some of it. Bila kami besar (sekolah dan kerja), diorang semua dah kawin dan tinggal di tempat lain. Jumpa pun sekali-sekala macam weekend, kenduri, raya or cuti panjang…That’s why bila I had the opportunity to further my studies, I was so grateful when my siblings (you know who) agreed to finance my studies. Alhamdulilllah also sebab dapat pinjaman pendidikan dari JPA.

Those time (early 50s) memang susah. Abah had 2 families. Mak Tua gave him 9 children and with Mak he had 7. He has to feed both families. Education wise masa tu mana ada banyak loans and scholarship macam sekarang. Embong and Akak jadi cikgu after their secondary school and every time cuti sekolah, they will have their teacher training course at SI*C at Tanjung Malim to obtain their teaching certificate. Alang joined Royal Malaysian Army. Acek plak after MCE (or HSC) got the offer to enter university but had to turned down cos lack of financial support. He then worked in D**L in Kuala Lumpur.

Every night after solat Maghrib, he will read to us the stories about the Prophets (Sirah). Those are the stories that I still remember until now. I think if he had the opportunity to learn like now, he must be somebody big… He was very intelligent in his own way. His Jawi handwriting is very beautiful. When I was in S*F, I normally wrote letter to him in rumi and he will replied in Jawi. Hmmm, I should have kept his letter. Tak tau dah mana perginya.

When I was in primary school, if Adik and I go anywhere with him, people will mistakenly recognized us as his granddaughters. That was because the age gap between me and my brother before me was 13 years. Dan Abah pun dah berumur 70an masa tu. Bak kata orang, Adik and I ni tersesat and baka tua…. Ye ke? Kadang-kadang boring gak bila orang kata we all ni macam cucu Abah. Malu jugak bila Abah marah kat orang bila makan di pekan. Whatever it is, we are happy to have such an understanding Abah. Masa kami di sekolah rendah dan giliran Abah di Kuala Sialang, Abah akan hantar kami ke sekolah dan jemput waktu tengahari naik kereta. Abah kerja sendiri iaitu juru ukur persendirian. Bukan la macam juru ukur glamer zaman sekarang. Gaji dia tak sebanyak mana dan tak tetap. Ada kerja, ada gaji. Tapi cukuplah untuk menyara kedua-dua keluarga. Kalau ada rombongan sekolah kemana-mana, Abah tak pernah melarang kalau nak pergi. He will allow me and Adik to go. He himself liked to travel. When I was in Standard 5 and had obtained 5As in my Penilaian Sekolah Rendah, he brought me to Sumatera to search for his families (roots). We went to Pekanbaru, Bukit Tinggi and Padang. Tulah pertama kali berjalan paling jauh seumur hidup. Masa tu we all naik flight kat Batu Berendam Airport. Naik Fokker which can accommodate 45 passengers. The travel took us 45 minutes to reach Pekan Baru. Bergegar-gegar je dalam flight tu…suspen gak.

In June 1987, I was still in kampung, Mak told me that Abah had gone to Seremban Hospital to undergo eye operation. Just nak jadi sebab orang kata. He was allowed to undergo the operation without much problem. Unlike as we know, if a person needs to undergo an operation, there were various checks and tests that the doctors need to do. But in his case, boleh buat cam tu je. Pelik tak? What more he was 84 years old at that time. So the next day, Mak and I went to Seremban. We went to Acu Amat’s house first. Acu Amat is Abah’s youngest brother. Then Acu drove us to Seremban Hospital during the visiting hour. When we reached his bed, the bed was empty. We asked the nurse there but the nurse told us that he was still in the OT. We waited there for a couple of hours. After much waiting, I asked the nurse again. This time is a different nurse. The nurse seemed lost and went somewhere to search the whereabouts of Abah. When the nurse came back, she told us, “sebenarnya tuan haji ni dah meninggal di bilik bedah” (actually this guy had passed away in the OT). We were so shocked as nobody came to tell us. When we asked baru dia nak bagitahu. Geram, sedih bercampur. Mak pun tak tau nak buat apa. I called Acek who were in KL and Akak and Alang in PD.

When Acek came baru kami uruskan the necessary documents to bring Abah home. It took us about 2 – 3 hours to get the jenazah out of the hospital. Emak and me ikut sekali dalam kereta jenazah. Kami sampai di kampung masa dah nak dekat Maghrib. Malam tu semua anak-anak Abah dah sampai di kampung. Esoknya selepas dimandi dan dikapankan Abah disembahyang sekali di rumah dengan diimamkan oleh arwah Embong Borhan. Jenazah Abah kemudian dibawa ke rumah Mak Tua di J*mp*l sebelum dibawa ke Masjid J*mp*l untuk sembahyang jenazah di masjid selepas solat Zohor. Kemudian Abah dikebumikan di kawasan perkuburan Kg C*c*r. Abah meninggal pada 25 Jun 1987. So this 25^th June genaplah 22 tahun Abah pergi meninggalkan kami.

They also gave me moral support and took good care of Mak when Abah was no longer around. Rasanya sebab didikan Mak dan Abahlah yang menjadikan kami adik-beradik boleh bersatupadu dan menanggung aku dan adik sampai habis sekolah walau diorang tak hidup mewah. Adik-beradikku bukanlah CEO di mana-mana syarikat besar atau pegawai tinggi kerajaan yang bawak kereta Mercedes tapi Alhamdulillah mereka berjaya dan hidup bahagia dengan cara masing-masing. Embong (bekas guru agama), Akak (cikgu pencen), Alang (askar pencen), Acek (masih bekerja di Majlis Daerah *P) dan Adik (di T*). Kami masih boleh berkumpul di rumah di mana kami dilahirkan…terimakasih pada Akak sebab masih tinggal di rumah itu. Masih punya tarikan untuk pulang ke kampung… ke tempat asal kami.

So, today is the 22^nd year Abah left us…Abang-abang, kakak-kakak, anak-anak buah, cucu-cicit, marilah kita sedekahkan Al Fatihah dan doa buat Allahyarham Hj N**u yang kita sayangi..Semoga Allah mencucuri rahmat ke atas rohnya.

Sumbangan Ija's Collection

Tu dia lagu yang dinyanyikan oleh Dato' Sheila Majid. Kalau tak silap lagu popular di tahun 80an. Hari Sabtu lepas kami sekeluarga ke Anyer. Perjalanan tu memang tak dirancang. Masa sarapan pagi, borak-borak dengan cik Abang nak ke mana hari tu…terkeluarlah ke Anyer. Lepas ke pasar beli ikan dan barang basah yang lain, kami pun bertolak dari rumah lebih kurang pukul 9.30 pagi. Dari Jakarta kami ikut jalan tol (lebuhraya) Jakarta – Merak. Sepanjang lebuhraya tu dikelilingi sawah padi yang terbentang luas. Rasa macam di lebuhraya Butterworth – Gurun. Dua jam di lebuhraya, kami keluar di 'exit' Cilegon. Perjalanan ke Anyer melalui Pelabuhan Merak. Jalan tak berapa elok. Berlubang-lubang. Mungkin disebabkan oleh lori-lori yang banyak lalu di situ. Lori banyak keluar-masuk kerana di situ terdapat Kawasan Perindustrian Krakatau. Perjalanan jadi perlahan sebab jalan tak elok. Boring gak…Lepas satu jam baru sampai ke kawasan Pantai Anyer. Semua tempat masuk ke pantai kena bayar. Kawasan pertama yang kami singgah, pantai dia agak berbatu. Kempunan la Adlina nak main pasir. Kami cuma turun sekejap, ambil gambar dan teruskan perjalanan untuk cari lokasi yang lebih menarik.

Memandangkan dah tengahari dan perut pun dah lapar, kami pun singgah makan tengahari di Restoran Sop Ikan. Kami 'order' sop ikan, ikan bakar, ayam goreng dan kangkung seafood. Sup dia sedap, ikan bakar dan ayam goreng boleh tahan la. Lepas makan dan solat kami pun meneruskan perjalanan. Di sepanjang perjalanan banyak kelihatan hotel, motel dan chalet untuk pengunjung. Lebih kurang setengah jam dari tempat makan tadi kami pun sampai di satu kawasan perkelahan, Pantai Carita. Seperti biasa la, nak masuk kawasan pantai kena bayar. Kat sini ramai orang, macam ada pesta…yang berjualan pun ramai. Barang yang dijual, pisang, ciku, durian belanda, keropok belinjau dan beberapa jenis keropok lagi.Ada juga gerai-gerai menjual cenderahati dari siput. Kat sini kalau datang berkelah tak bawak tikar pun tak pe sebab banyak sekali tikar untuk disewakan…jangan tak caye…tikar untuk disewa. Kami cuma jalan-jalan di sini dan ambik gambar. Pantainya taklah cantik sangat…pasirnya warna kelabu….pantainya banyak batu. Cantik lagi Pantai Port Dickson dan di Pantai Timur.

Dalam perjalanan pulang kami ikut jalan lain…sebab kat tengah jalan nampak papantanda jalan alternatif ke Jakarta. Ikut la jalan tu. Jalannya agak sempit….jalan kampung. Kata cik Abang, macam jalan ke Ulu Jempol. Sebab melalui kawasan kampung. Di kiri kanan ada sawah padi, hutan. Rumah-rumah kampung di sini ada yang masih berdindingkan buluh yang dianyam. Jalannya kurang berlubang dari jalan kami datang tadi. Pemandangan memang cantik. Asli pemandangan kampung. Sawah padi berteres masih menggunakan tenaga kerbau untuk membajak. Antara tempat yang kami lalui Cinangka, Citasuk, Batu Kuwung, Cikoneng dan banyak lagi tempat yang bermula dengan Cixxx.

Kami masuk semula ke lebuhraya berdekatan Pejabat Propinsi Banten. Kami sampai di rumah pukul 7.30 malam. Badan dah penat, tak larat nak masak. 'Order' saja lauk dari Kedai Sop Buntut Bang Hadji…Sup lagi…Hentam sajalah labu… Dah makan tidur…Ponek.

Groceries Shopping and Haircut Weekend

Today is the final day of May 2009. It is almost 4 months since we left our beloved families in Malaysia. But almost every week we called or contact them either via telephone, Facebook or emails. Thanks for the current technology. My sister yang kat kampung pun dah reti berFacebook. Jangan tak cayo. Bravo Akak. In short the whole family dah boleh connected via Facebook. Kalau macam zaman sekolah dulu mau sebulan sekali baru dapat surat…..those were the days. Yesterday we did the grocery shopping at Carrefour Lebak Bulus. Since duduk sini we seldom makan kat luar…selalunya masak sendiri…kuih-muih pun buat sendiri….jangan tak cayo. Sekarang ni dah pandai buek karipap (tapi tak sesodap karipap air tangan K. Ana). Bulehlah…Kalau makan kat luar pun menu selalunya kalau tak masakan Padang, masakan Sunda or fast food…so macam dah boring. Since masak sendiri the groceries pun kena beli lebih dari selalu. Tepung, gula, butter harga lebih mahal sedikit dari Malaysia. Cam semalam one month groceries' yang muek 2 troli Carrefour costs us almost Rp 2 juta lebih kurang RM700.00. Kalau selalu shopping kek Tesco Kota Damansara sebulan lebih kurang 350 henggit je.

Pagi tadi lepas breakfast and after mengeluarkan bahan-bahan untuk masak for lunch, hubby, Hariz, Adlina and me went to the salon we frequent i.e. I**e H*r Salon at Cipete Selatan. Hubby and Hariz went to second floor to the men's section while Adlina and I to the first floor to the ladies' section. When I reached there, turned out the ladies' section is full house and we had to wait for another 30 – 45 minutes. Asked them to reserve the place and off we went to the second floor to see Hariz. Sampai je, Hariz dah botak. Then hubby's turn. After about 30 minutes wait baru Adlina's turn then myself. I did the haircut and cream bath. Dah lama tak buat…almost 2 months. Rasa best sangat bila the cream reached the scalp…sejuk, wangi and lega. Did the carrot cream bath. What more when the head is massaged with the cream. Then the lady urut sampai ke tengah belakang. Rasa lega semua urat-urat belikat, tengkok and bahu…best, best….

Busy Weekend

Last weekend is quite a hectic weekend. On Saturday, had nasi lemak for breakfast…Kalau makan nasi lemak surely mengantuk and end up tidur sampai Zohor. After solat Zohor we (hubby, me, Hariz & Adlina) we went to Gramedia Bookstore @ D’Best to find some ‘kitabs’ which F**zi asked our favour look for. Managed to get a few out of the whole set and ordered the rest. Jalan-jalan sekejap and then off to CITOS (Cilandak Town Square). Gi makan roti canai at Malay Village Restaurant kat situ. It served Malay and Thai food. To me the roti canai and kari ayam met my expectations. Then F**zi called that he has checked out from the hotel and he was at Senayan City at that time. After beli barang-barang sikit, we all pun terus ke Senayan City to pass the kitab as his flight will be at 8.00 pm. We reached home at around Maghrib.

On Sunday hubby and I pegi beli ikan di Pasar Santa as usuallah. Reached home terus masak…menu for the day was Ayam Masak Sos and sayur campur goreng. Menu biasa je. Siap je masak hubby’s friend who is also Malaysian working with Petronas here, jemput datang makan-makan kat rumah dia. Went there after Zohor. Rupa-rupanya they lived not far from our house. They are in Cipete Selatan while we are in Cipete Utara. Cilok sana-sini ikut jalan dalam, in 15 minutes dah sampai. The wife (Zana) pun I have met before, once, at Anita’s house in March. Rozee and Mas were also there. Makan-makan, borak-borak , we reached home at 4.00 pm.

This morning baru had the opportunity to read Saturday’s and Monday’s newspapers. On Saturday’s, there was an article on first-class cab in the Jakarta Post. What is first class cab? It refers to helicopter taxi or helimousine. There are two operators for helimousine i.e. Air Pacific Utama and Derazona Air Service. With the mega traffic congestion and sometimes of bad flood, this service really needed especially by those important business people for whom time really is money. The best thing is they just go straight to the departure hall. The rate? Well it is a hefty US$1,550 per hour. Walaupun Hari Ibu dah dekat 1 minggu berlalu rasa terpanggil nak meluahkan apa yang aku rasa terhadap Mak selama ini. Mak meninggalkan kami pada hari Jumaat 13 September 1991. Masa tu aku di tahun akhir pengajian. Aku masih ingat lagi malam tu lebih kurang pukul 8.00 malam, aku ke Puduraya menghantar Adik yang akan pulang ke I*M Dungun kerana cuti semesternya dah habis. Balik ke asrama, solat Isyak dan terus ke bilik tv bersama kawan-kawan melepak sambil menonton tv. Adik pun ada bagi tau yang Mak demam sikit. Kebetulan aku pun memang dah beli tiket untuk pulang ke kampung keesokan harinya. Sedang lepak-lepak, ada announcement yang mengatakan ada visitor nak jumpa aku. Hairan jugak sebab dah tengah malam sapa pulak yang datang. Bila keluar kulihat abang tiriku Abang Fa**h datang.

Dia kata “Jom balik ada hal di kampung”. Hati dah rasa tak sedap.

“Abang bagi tau sekarang, ada apa sebenarnya ni? Kalau tak L**** tak nak balik” aku tanya dia balik.

Then dia kata “Sabar L****, Mak dah tak ada”. Aku tak tau apa nak buat..rasa macam nak nangis, rasa nak pengsan pun ada. Aku naik ke bilik, ambik apa yang patut, terus masuk ke kereta. The journey yang sepatutnya 2 jam rasa macam lama sangat. Sampai je aku terus jumpa Akak, Acek dan Alang. Abang H****m (my other half-brother) masa tu on the way ke Dungun untuk ambik Adik. Akak cerita that malam tu dalam pukul 10.00 malam Mak mengadu macam susah nak bernafas. Badan pun panas sebab dia demam. Mak pun mintak tolong bawak dia ke klinik. On the way ke klinik Mak kata dia susah nak bernafas lagi and tak lama lepas tu dia menghembuskan nafas terakhir di pangkuan Akak and belum sampai klinik lagi. My brother-in-law, U** terus drive ke klinik just to get the confirmation from the doctor. Bila Akak dah cerita tu aku pun ambik wuduk dan terus duduk di sisi Mak baca Quran sampai waktu Subuh. Bila kehilangan Mak rasa sedih yang teramat (undescribable).

When I was in Primary school, as far as I can remember Mak akan hantar and ambik aku dan Adik di sekolah kalau it was Abah’s turn kat rumah Mak Tua (my stepmother). Bila habis waktu sekolah, Mak akan tunggu kami di bawah pokok manggis tepi pagar sekolah dengan motor kapcai. Itu rutin dia since aku darjah 1 sampai darjah 4. Bila dah darjah 5, Abah belikan aku basikal Chopper sebab selalu dapat nombor 1 every time exam dari aku darjah 1. Lepas tu aku naik basikal ke sekolah sebab bila naik darjah 5 dah ada after school activities. Masa tu after school activities bukan macam sekarang. We all berkebun sayur. Sorang dapat satu batas and we have to maintain our batas. Tanam, bubuh baja, siram and kutip hasil sayuran tu. Games were rounders, football (for boys). Compulsory clubs were brownies (girl guides) and pengakap.

Masa Peperiksaan Penilaian Darjah 5, three of us (aku, Az** and Naz**) dapat 5A. Mak happy tapi taklah seexcited mak-mak sekarang. Dia kata syukur Alhamdulillah. Belajar rajin-rajin lagi. Bila dah habis darjah 6 aku dapat offer ke Sekolah Berasrama Penuh di Johor Bahru. Aku tanya Abah. Abah kata kalau aku nak pergi, pergilah sebab bukan senang nak dapat kesempatan ke sekolah asrama penuh. Bila cikgu datang ke rumah tanya whether nak pergi ke tidak, teruslah aku kata OK without knowing kat mana tempat tu. Masa tu offer came to us unlike sekarang we have to apply. After a week I said yes to the offer, came another offer which was from Sekolah Menengah Agama Wilayah Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur. Masa tu rasa menyesal pulak sebab accept offer S*F tu. Sebab SMAWIP dekat. Kat KL je and saudara-mara ramai di KL.

When the day came (January 1982), Abah, Mak and Acek accompanied me to S*F. After registration, briefing by the principal the three of them pun balik. Sedih giler sebab tak pernah jauh dari parents sejauh JB. Masa tu tak de PLUS highway. The journey from Bahau ke JB lebih kurang 6 jam. Malam tu rasanya bantal tu basah kuyup dengan airmata aku. Homesick betul in the ‘foreign’ land. Kat rumah kampong masa tu belum ada telefon. So the only means of communication were letters. Bila weekends, most of my friends will be visited by their family members. Tapi we all yang dari jauh ni memang tak de visitor la.

Tapi yang paling sedih masa aku Form 2. That particular evening we all baru lepas sukan tara (qualifying round) sebab masa tu dah dekat nak Sports’ Day. Petang tu rasa seram sejuk nak demam. Malam tu aku muntah-muntah and sakit perut. The next morning aku ke ‘sick bay’. Ingatkan nak ambik ubat tapi Kak Normah (Supervisor sick bay) advised me to go to the hospital. Kat hospital, I was diagnosed dapat Appendicitis. So the doctor kata aku akan dioperate petang tu jugak sebab takut the Appendicitis tu pecah. Memang seperigi airmata tumpah sebab takut and sedih tak ada sesapa kat situ except Kak Normah. After the operation, aku sedar dah tengah malam. The next morning Kak Normah datang visit. Petang tu masa visiting hour, when tengok orang keliling semua ada orang visit, aku menangis sorang-sorang. Kat sebelah katil aku ada sorang makcik tu. Dia tanya aku sakit apa pun aku nangis sebab terharu. Just imagine at the age of 14 aku dah menghadapi semua ni di tempat orang. But I fully understand that bukan senang my family nak datang ke sini within that short period of time unlike NOW. Aku stay kat hospital 3 hari 2 malam. Bila dah keluar dari hospital, aku kena stay kat sick bay sebab luka operation belum totally healed. After one night kat sick bay, the following morning Mak datang alone. Dia kata, dia datang naik keretapi. The telegram sampai kat kampong the day after aku operate. Aku nangis sebab susah payah Mak datang naik keretapi sorang-sorang. Adik tinggal ngan Abah and Mak Tua. Masa tu Adik dah darjah 5. Our age difference is 3 years. Mak balik ke kampong petang tu jugak naik train. Tak taulah pukul berapa dia sampai di kampung.

Setiap hari Sabtu akhir cuti penggal (masa tu di Johor sekolah start hari Ahad), Mak akan hantar aku ke stesen keretapi Gemas lepas solat Subuh dengan kereta yang disewa dari U** Y*s*f. Masa tu kalau balik cuti penggal memang selalunya naik keretapi sebab semua students dapat tiket konsesi. Mak akan tunggu sampai keretapi jalan baru dia balik.

Throughout my 5 years aku kat JB rasanya hanya 4 kali je ada family datang. Masa registration, aku kena apendiks, Embong ambik aku masa Mak nak pergi Haji and masa ambik barang after SPM. Kalau nak ikut memang macam kena dump je kat situ. Tapi it is understood that the situation at that time memang tak mengizinkan untuk my family datang visit aku and aku tak pernah menyalahkan sesiapa unlike sekarang, segala macam kemudahan dah ada. Anyway, I enjoyed my teenage years kat sana dengan kawan-kawan dari setiap pelosok Malaysia. Bermacam pengalaman yang pahit dan manis.

Abah meninggal pada 25 June 1987. Masa tu aku dah dapat offer masuk II*M and Abah pun dah tau about that. Abah ke Hospital Seremban for an eye operation the day before. Tengahari tu Mak dan aku ke hospital nak jenguk Abah but the bed was empty. We asked the nurse where Abah was tapi nurse tu kata dia still dalam OT. We waited lebih kurang 2 jam. Nobody came bagi tau the progress. Aku pun tanya lagi… Tetiba nurse tu boleh kata sebenarnya Tuan Haji tu dah meninggal kat OT. You just imagine betapa terkejutnya we all. I called Acek who worked in KL, Alang and Akak in PD. We waited there sampai Acek dan yang lain-lain datang. After abour 2 jam menyelesaikan all the procedures, aku dan Mak pun accompany arwah Abah naik kereta jenazah hospital pulang ke kampung. Kami sampai di kampung when it is almost ‘Isyak. Abah dikebumikan the next day di Kampung C*c*r.

A month after Abah meninggal, aku masuk Matriks II*M di Subang Jaya. Adik pula dah masuk sekolah asrama kat Seremban. Mak tinggal sorang di rumah. Once in a while dia akan ke PD rumah Akak. Bila ada masa cuti or long weekend aku akan ke pulang ke kampung or ke PD jenguk Mak. Aku tak ingat berapa lama after that Mak masuk hospital sebab dapat TB. Aku pun tak tau macam mana Mak boleh dapat penyakit tu. Mula-mula she was admitted kat Hospital PD then transferred ke Seremban. It was because di Seremban ada wad khas untuk TB and better treatment there. Masa visit dia di Hospital Seremban memang kesian tengok Mak sebab badan dia jadi kurus sangat eventhough dia memang tak pernah gemuk. Tapi terlalu kurus because of TB. She was recovered anyway after 1 year plus of treatment. Since then memang dia tak berapa sihat. Selalu dapat demam tapi tak de penyakit yang kronik. Still boleh jalan-jalan ke KL rumah Acek, ke PD and ke Johor rumah Embong. One year before Mak meninggal Akak dapat transfer mengajar di sekolah berdekatan kampung. So akak pindah duduk di rumah Mak. We were quite relief sebab at least ada somebody yang boleh tengok Mak if dia tak sihat.

The semester yang Mak meninggal tu memang results aku teruk sampai ada subject yang fail. Memang tak boleh nak concentrate. The final semester baru lah okay sikit boleh concentrate belajar. Our convocation was in August 1992. Masa tu aku dah dapat keje temporary dengan gaji RM600 and duduk menyewa dengan kawan-kawan sekampus di Kg B**u. The day before convocation semua kawan-kawan serumah keluar dengan family masing-masing. So aku tinggal sorang-sorang kat rumah. I know that my brothers and sisters akan datang on the convocation day tapi entah kenapa rasa sayu sangat petang tu. So aku pun called my sister Embong di Johor. I was so sad sebab Mak tak dapat tengok aku convo as I was the first person in my family yang dapat masuk U. Masa sembang ngan Embong tu memang berjuraianlah airmata. Masa tu jugak semua yang yang aku cerita di atas tu macam jadi wayang flashback. Dah lebih sejam sembang barulah rasa lega.

All in all I owed it all to my brothers and sisters yang dah menjaga, menyekolahkan, memberi sokongan dan pertolongan pada aku dan Adik sampai kami berdua graduated. All of them dah jadi macam Mak dan Abah kami sebab sampai sekarang pun aku still jadikan mereka tempat untuk mengadu, bertukar pendapat, bersembang dan segala apa yang menjadikan mereka macam ibu dan ayah. All of them pun memang dah jadi ibu dan ayah untuk anak-anak buah aku. Aku pun selalu menjadi tempat untuk anak-anak buah aku mengadu, bersembang, mengutuk etc. To Embong, Akak, Adik, K. Lang and K. Ana, Happy Mother’s Day…all of you are special in your own way…thanks for being great sisters, sister-in-laws. I owed it all to all of you.

To anak-anak buah yang dah jadi ibu, mak, mama, umi, mummy (K. Cha, Nikma, Ita, Ati, Faizah, Zura, Lin)…Selamat Hari Ibu dan semoga menjadi ibu mithali. And to Mashitah yang bakal menjadi ibu, jaga diri baik-baik.

Eventhough Mak tak sempat nak melihat aku kahwin dan punya keluarga sendiri tapi aku still ingat segala pesan Mak, which are among others are, jangan tinggal sembahyang, jaga kehormatan diri, jangan menyakiti hati orang. So to all kawan-kawan yang masih ada Mak, spend time when them as much as you can while they are alive. Berbuat baik kepada ibu bapa itu adalah salah satu tuntutan dalam Islam. Happy Belated Mother’s Day…..

Friends Indeed

What la to write ye? Oh ya last month my dear friend N*ra came here with her hubby F**zi. Actually F**zi was on business trip as he is a businessman and N*ra biasalah will tagged along. So they were our first guests since we landed in Tanah Jawa last January. We have been friends quite long since 1987. I befriend N*ra when we were in I*UM Matriculation Centre in Subang Jaya. My hubby and F**zi were roommates in I*UM. They were our seniors. Sometimes we can’t believe that we got married among our friends. There are also our other 2 friends i.e. R*ro and An*. R*ro marry J*ta and An* marries E*at. My hubby, J*ta, E*at (my hubby & E*at were also schoolmates and hostel mates in VI) and S*zli were in the same batch in AUSMAT and studied in I*UM. Myself, R*ro and An* were from the same school (same batch) in one of the boarding schools in JB. Don’t ask how we got to know our husbands. It was not a planned one… it was a pure coincident. Among us, An* and E*jat got married first then R*ro, followed by N*ra then myself. S*zli joined the club later when he got married to L*nda who was also our junior at I*UM. Alhamdulillah, eventhough everybody are always busy with our duties as employees, parents, children and servant of Allah we still maintain close contact with each other. We normally gather at An* & E*jat’s house as they stay in Bangi near to S*zli’s and halfway journey for R*ro & J*ta who resided in Seremban. During hari raya we will make a round to each other’s house. Sometimes we go for short excursions with our families. Tersangatlah meriah sesekali berkumpul.

Well back to N*ra & F**zi’s visit, met them for dinner on their arrival at Boplo Gado-gado. Makan-makan then drive them back to hotel in Senayan. Then hubby and F**zi had their coffee session at the Coffee house while N*ra and I lepak kat bilik as Hariz dah tidur.

The next day our family accompanied them to ‘Brother Land’ (read: Tanah Abang) as N*ra nak beli tudung and such. Kalau dah sampai Tanah Abang tu tak sahlah kalau tak rambang mata dengan telekung bermacam corak & warna, blouses, jubah, etc etc. We spent the whole day at Tanah Abang. Sent them back to hotel and we had another round of drinks and makan-makan lagi at the coffee house. We never met them since raya so banyakla yang nak diborakkan. We left the hotel when it is almost Maghrib. Ini antara investment yang menarik perhatian Puan N*ra:

I fetched N*ra at the hotel at almost 11.00 am the next day. Our destination was Kuningan Mall as Cik Kak ni nak cari DVDs. Sampai sana tak sahlah kalau tak terpesona dengan benda-benda lain kan. DVDs dah dapat…habihlah jugak beratus ribu Rupiah. Boleh la tahan till the next visit kot. Tengah jalan-jalan, I got the call from the shopowner of the jubah outlet at Tanah Abang that jubah yang N*ra nak tu is available. So apalagi we went to Tanah Abang again. Macet la pulak. Tapi still manageable. Had lunch there and terus ke kedai jubah tu. We went back to the hotel by taxi and waved goodbye to each other as tomorrow they will fly back to Malaysia.

SANA-SINI CUTI SEKOLAH

Cuti sekolah for NZIS ended yesterday. Selepas 2 minggu anak-anak dara nih dok di rumah sebab cuti sekolah dengan aktiviti yang tak lain tak bukan dari bangun lambat, makan, tengok tv, makan lagi, internet, makan lagi, tengok tv, tidur. Tu jelah majority cara yang dihabiskan selama 2 minggu. Minoriti of the time? Well, di tengah kesibukan ayah dengan kejenya, dapatlah jugak dia meluangkan masa membawa kami ber’wisata’ ke Bandung. We went there on 5th April and balik on 7th April. Perjalanan pergi lancar sebab hari Ahad dan kami bertolak pukul 8.30 pagi. Tak macet. Cuaca pun elok, tak panas sangat. Sampai di Tol Pastur, Bandung lebih kurang pukul 11.30 pagi. Pusing-pusing cari hotel dulu i.e. Aston Bandung. Rasa macam jauh sebab jalan di Bandung especially di tengah town jalan sehala. If we missed satu simpang we have to make another round unless you are familiar dengan jalan-jalan pintas. The supir is not that well versed so kena pusing-pusing a few times. Sampai di hotel around 12.30 pm.

Checked-in and terus jalan-jalan. Planned to go to Tangkuban Perahu. Before that we had lunch at Sapu Lidi Café and Gallery which is about 30 minutes from the town centre. Jalan taklah elok sangat. A nice restaurant dengan konsep ‘lesehan’ (makan di lantai). Sapu Lidi ni style dia macam dangau/pondok (orang NS sebut pundung) di tengah sawah. Kita duduk di atas pangkin and the waiter akan datang to take the order. Teringat masa kecik-kecik duduk di pundung berihat sambil makan setelah penat di sawah. Pundung di kelilingi sawah tapi padi belum masak. Mungkin dalam masa sebulan lagi padi tu semua akan kuning… Hidangan pun sedap. We chose ikan nila bakar, pencuk (macam gado-gado) and ayam goreng. By the time habis makan the weather dah start sejuk sebab dah start hujan renyai. We left Sapu Lidi di tengah gerimis and heading to Lembang via jalan yang agak berbukit and bengkang-bengkok.

Sampai di pintu masuk ke Tangkuban Perahu around 2.30 pm. Jalan naik masyaallah teruk betul…berlubang-lubang. It took us lebih kurang 45 minutes to reach the top. Turun je dari kereta ramai pulak orang-orang yang jual souvenirs mengelilingi kami promoting their jualan. Rimas betul. They followed us wherever we go. Naik ke anjung tinjau dah hujan. Sejuk giler sebab berangin. Ronda-ronda, ambik gambar, layan Hariz and Adlina naik kuda we all pun cepat-cepat naik kereta sebab rimas orang-orang tu asyik ikut. We did not go down to the kawah sebab hari dah hujan agak lebat. When we went down to the transit point for those who came by bus, we found out that there’s another jalan naik and turun. So masa turun we took that road. A better road but a bit bengkang-bengkok but kurang lubang. Lagi dekat. 20 minit dah sampai ke bawah. No wonder tak banyak kereta yang we all jumpa masa naik, rupanya ada jalan lain. Since dah hujan, plan nak ke ladang strawberry and Maribaya tak jadi. Terus balik ke hotel. Malam dinner kat Braga Walk Food Court je. Malas nak ke tempat lain sebab hujan lebat.

The next day we went shopping to factory outlets. Went to Cihampelas Walk, Rumah Mode at Jalan Setiabudi, Secret and Terminal Tas at Jalan Riau and Pasar Baru. Habis jugaklah a few millions Rp. But worth it. After checked-out on Tuesday, singgah di Kartika Sari brownies. Saja beli nak rasa whether it is as tasty at it is said to be. Taste is a subjective matter. To me, my sister’s (Adik) brownies tastes better than Kartika Sari’s (Adik, Kartika Sari’s is bit bantat to me). Dunno why ramai orang sini kata tak sah kalau ke Bandung tak beli brownies Kartika Sari. Reached home at 4.00 pm.

PEMILU 2009 (9 APRIL)

Indonesia had their Election Day (PEMILU – Pemilihan Umum) on 9 April 2009. There is about 38 parties (PARPOL – Parti Politik) contested in this year’s PEMILU. Just imagine berapa orang CALEG (Calon Administrasi Legislatif) yang bertanding. Those are the Wakil Rakyat/Ahli Parlimen. Kekecohan ada di mana-mana (as reported in the news). It was declared as public holiday. Since it was a holiday and the day after was Good Friday which is also a public holiday which meant 4 days straight inclusive of Saturday and Sunday, a lot of people went ‘balik kampung’ or out of town. I saw in the news that train tickets were sold out and highways were jammed with people going out of Jakarta whether to their hometown for the Election or for holidays.

Hubby had to work in the afternoon as one of the M*SC’s vessels docked at Tanjung Priok in the morning. As one of the M*SC’s representatives here he needs to ensure that everything went smoothly including welcoming the captain. So off he went with the local M*SC’s appointed agent.

GOOD FRIDAY

Atikah together with her Malaysian friend Nabila has made plan to watch movie since before the school holidays. We were worried to let her go only with Nabila. So last Friday we asked her to go with Arfah and Adlina. Nabila also brought along her sister Najiha who is also Adlina’s classmate and her maid. So kira group outinglah. Hubby drove them up to Pondok Indah Mall (PIM) for the movie. That was their first movie trip since we came here.

So, hari ni dok lepak ngan Hariz di rumah…back to the old routine…masak…layan Hariz sambil tunggu anak-anak balik….still searching for something interesting to do apart from the normal routine…tapi apa ye?

JALAN-JALAN CUTI SEKOLAH - MANGGA DUA

Since it is school holidays, we went to Mangga Dua on Tuesday…It was so unfortunate that day ada kempen pilihanraya..Trafic jammed everywhere. So I asked Donny the supir to take the highway konon-konon nak mengelakkan from jam…From Cipete to Kg Rambutan still smooth. As we were approaching the Semanggi interchange dah start merangkak-rangkak…Tension, tension. We reached Mangga Dua after 1 ½ hours in the car. Had our lunch at A&W, solat, off we tour the complex. Bought kasut & sweater for Atikah, small handbag & baju princess (as Adlina called it) for Adlina, Ben10 bagpack for Hariz and a handbag & blouse for yours truly. Too bad Arfah tak ikut. Malas katanya...Nak mengadap TV. Memang rambang mata sebab banyak sangat choices…Itu pun tak sempat ronda all the floors. Maybe next time boleh pergi lagi…Itulah pompuan kalau gi shopping tak sah kalau tak pergi semua kedai. We are being cost effective actually…dah datang jauh-jauh sure we want to get the best thing and the 'murahest' price kan? That’s why we have to compare and bargain baru beli….Barulah value for money kan? So here are some of the photos:

Dah 4 hari tak menjenguk to this blog of mine…well not much happening last week…Among others are:

Nyepi Holiday (26 March)

It was a public holiday over here. It was Nyepi Day celebrated by Hindus in Bali. During this day the Hindus are not allowed to set light and fire for the whole day. Even the domestic airport, Ngurah Rai was not in operation today but exception was given to the hotels in Bali as tourist flocking the island due to the public holiday. Well, me? We went to Carrefour Lebak Bulus for the monthly grocery shopping. The ‘supir’ was on off day. Who to drive? Well dear hubby seperti biasa as Carrefour Lebak Bulus is one of the two hypermarkets we always go to apart from Giant Poin Square. We haven’t had the opportunity to explore more of Jakarta. Among other places we have gone to are, CITOS (Cilandak Town Square), Tanah Abang, Plaza Senayan, Makro Kg Rambutan, Cipadu (for bedspread shopping), ITC Fatmawati and PIM (Pondok Indah Mall) since we landed here on 10 January 2009. Maybe during this 2-week school hols we will see more of Jakarta and other places.

Back from Carrefour had lunch, KFC. Petang baru masak. Today’s menu Daging Bali as opposed to Tati’s Ayam Bali (thanks Tati for the delicious recipe) and Baby Kailan goreng. I’ve tried her Ayam Bali memang terangkat. Ni try using beef plak. Not bad jugak. Boleh try lagi… Ni dia:

After venturing ourselves to Pasar Santa @ Cipaku for ikan, daging, sayur, santan and other barang basah, off we went to MOI (Mall of Indonesia) @ Kelapa Gading. With the help of Jakarta map that we have, sampailah kami anak-beranak ke MOI. Nothing much to shout about sebab it is a new shopping centre and banyak kedai yang belum dibuka. The major tenants are Carrefour and Centro. But it has a good theme park for the children but lesser games if compared to Berjaya Times Square. Kira oklah untuk budak-budak main. Per game is Rp10,000 on everage and Rp25,000 for game yang mencabar sikit. Tak sempat explore the Mall sebab dah terlama kat the games. After that we all makan-makan at Bakoel Desa a Sundanese Restaurant. Boleh tahan la untuk perut yang lapart…The ayam goreng is nice. We left MOI at 4.00 pm and reached home at 5.30 pm. This is my first posting after about 1 year reading other people’s blog. Macam menarik nak buat blog sendiri as I just can write or rather typing anything or about anything. Today 25 March 2009 or 29 Rabi’ul Awwal 1430 I officially launch my blog.

Just got back from Adlina’s school concert. She performed Hawaiian dance together with her classmates at Oktroi Plaza. It was indeed great performances by the students from Year 1 up to Year 6 which includes Hip Hop dances, ballet, puppet dance and short play. It also marked the end of term 1 for all of them. Lepas ni cuti sekolah till 12 April 2009. Will post the photos later. Here are some of the photos:
